DA2W – Galveston Island State Park – Galveston Tx

Posted on March 27th, 2010 by admin in Galveston island

Discovering America on 2 Wheels – This is Day 1 of my 400 mile Southeast Texas Loop and I’m at Galveston Island State Park. GISP borders the Gulf of Mexico on the south side of the park and Galveston Bay on the north side of the park and has hiking and paddling trails with GPS coordinates on the Park map. The hiking trails wind through the brackish (mixture of salt and fresh) water of the tidal marsh and includes a loop around a number of fresh water ponds. This park has an abundance of wildlife including pelicans, hawks and shore birds. For more information on my day at the park, visit my blog at www.WillsOnWheels.blogspot.com

Good restaurants to eat at in Houston? And Galveston?

Posted on March 26th, 2010 by admin in Galveston restaurants

Besides the Aquarium or big chain restaurants!
Small chains are okay.

I live outside of Houston, so it’s not like I’ve never seen stuff there before.
But I really haven’t eaten there before.
And I’m going to Galveston today so I’ll need restaurants there too.
I’ve been there too.

Please give some great restaurants in these categories for Houston and Galveston:
Chinese
Italian
American
Mexican

Just so we have a variety to choose from. Also, please give the street name it’s on, and the biggest street it’s close to.

Galveston, we’d eat lunch and dinner.
Houston, early dinner with some out of town friends.

In Houston:
Chinese
Ocean Palace
11215 Bellaire Boulevard
Houston, TX 77072-2534
(281) 988-8898

Italian
Romano’s Restaurant
1528 West Gray Street
Houston, TX 77019
(713) 526-1182

http://www.romanoshouston.com/

American
Barnaby’s Cafe
604 Fairview Street
Houston 7706
(713) 522-0106

Mexican
Sorry but no one beats my Mom’s homemade Mexican so I usually go to her house for Mexican.
