April 21, 2010 the Ecstasy made a sharp turn at sea to avoid a wayward buoy. The ship listed to port hard causing dozens of injuries and traumatizing many more. What the news showed was only part of the story, this is the REST of the story told from passengers who survived this incident.

@flowers58 no I was not on board ,,,My Daughter, Son in Law and all of his family were on board that Cruise… I will not take a Carnival Cruise myself … I stick with NCL….

I agree, much overplayed and dramatic.
Look, the ship is aimed at AVERAGE joes. It’s almost 20 years old, what do you expect out of a 20 year old ship that has racked up millions of nautical miles.
You get what you pay for, it even says it on the carnival website. If you want a better cruise, go on the Conquest, or an entirely different liner all together.

we are going on this cruise on monday- after seeing this video, we CAN’T wait to be on the ecstasy ON x from cozumel!!! this was not a captain error. the boat almost tipped due to the people aboard. did you see that floral FUPA? or the multiple rollie pollies? there was an uneven distribution of weight on board. tell some of the Hagrids aboard to move to the other side in order to avoid another DEVASTATING disaster, as you described above. here’s some latin for ya: VERITAS. it means TRUTH.

we are going on this boat on monday!!! this just made us SO excited to be on the ecstasy! maybe we should take some x in meXico when we get to cozumel!!!!! WOOHOOO!!!!
i don’t think there was not a captain error…. we just think the large marges need to even out on the boat in order to balance out the weight. did you see that floral fupa? or the multiple rolli pollies?? THAT is why the boat almost sank!!!

You have got to be me. OK, so the cruise ship made a sharp turn. Maybe the accident could have been avoided, maybe the cruise staff could have handled it better. Certainly, it was not a good thing. However, you completely overplay the situation, describing tables “ripping themselves from the floor”, people “spurting bright red blood”, and passengers forced to climb up the wildly tilted deck. I’m sorry, but your account is so overly dramatic that it is impossible to take seriously.

The ship listed 12 degrees according to Carnival Corp. You claim “at least 35 degrees” and in the video 45 degrees. You sir, are full of crap. My god, 12 degrees isn’t THAT big of a deal.

I was the man …
I was the man carrying my daughter with the cut up ankles mentioned at the end. I was the first one in the infirmary. I was amazed at how unprepared they were, and how the guests were taking care of all the injured. The Cruise line blew us off when we called, so I hope what actually happened eventually comes out. Did anyone else notice the 2 dark spots on the map on channel 15 the ship was in the middle of when it all happened??

Dude, you make me want to vomit. I was on the other side of the pool with my 6 year old daughter. And she didn’t make as much drama as you have in this vid. Yeah a few people got hurt. But I suppose you would have rather hit the bouy and have the ship be disabled, or worse SINK! You should really be ashamed of yourself. The crew did an amazing job of making sure everyone was ok after this was over. Next time you go on vacation stay in your closet. It’ll be safer for you.

@flowers58 Nope I was not, had just gotten off when you got on, but by watching the video you have put on here, and listening to the interviews of passengers as well as statements made by those passengers on many different cruise forums , its pretty obvious it is not quite how you are trying to make it sound. For so much chaos and panic because everyone was so scared, etc etc, it sure looked calm in your video. Sorry just calling it like I see it.

Thanks for your comments flowers- Im no ship’s engineer, but I think a GyroScope is what keeps the boat level. So, maybe the ship would not have tilted so bad if the gyroscope had not malfunctioned. Sure enough though, dont they have underwater sonar or other collission detection capabilities??

@Sensenigr … 60 stitches in your arm,,, I would want them to pay the bill too !!!! they should have had the gyroscope operating properly !!!! My love ones were on board!!!!You would be yelling too if it had happen to you !!!! Especially if you were hurt !!!
