The Carnival cruise ship Ecstasy made an emergency maneuver Wed., April 21, 2010, to avoid an adrift buoy, causing the ship to list and injuring 60 guests. None of the injuries were life-threatening, the cruise line said.

There was a buoy, but the buoy was there marking a sand bar that we almost ran aground on!! The land mass was on the radar. You can see the radar, direction and course of the ship on one of the channels in each cabins TV. The ship made a NINETY DEGREE TURN!! You dont do that to avoid a buoy! I was also told by a crew member that someone on the bridge was getting fired over the mistake. The cruise line is covering its butt!!

I was also on the cruise. The ship listed about 30 degrees. There was some chaos but within 25 minutes you could not tell anything happened. The crew was fantastic and organized. The bouy story is crap though. The ship did a 90 degree turn to avoid the Island (sand bar) The bouy was there to warn ships. Someone in the bridge messed up bad.

I was on this ship and number one the boat did not go at a 45 degree angle and the cruise people did not handle it well at all this would not happen if they handled it well and the water did was not one foot from the 8th floor i was one the 7 and the water was like 20 feet
