We are wanting to go on another cruise. We usually leave from Miami but we want to leave from Galveston this time? If so what ship did you take and where did you go?
Yes, I've taken two cruises from Galveston both times on Carnival Cruise Line. My first cruise out of Galveston was on the last voyage of the Celebration before it sailed away from Galveston to Jacksonville, FL. On that cruise we went to Cozumel and Playa del Carmen and it was great fun BUT -ship wise- the best ship is the Conquest. It is a beautiful ship and the captain and his crew are unbelievably courteous and good at what they do – The Conquest normally goes to Jamaica, the Grand Caymans and my favorite Cozumel (where I immediately leave the ship and head to Paradise Beach – taxis are cheap & they will tell you the cost before you leave to go anywhere or it's posted at the taxi stand – some people rent mopeds or go to ruins or swim with the dolphins) everyone has their favorite and you can get pretty good advice from other passengers on what to see and do or find out on the ship about the 'excursions to take for a fee' if that is what you like. It's just not for me. A girlfriend told me about PB and I set out on my own to find it on my first cruise and it was just what I was looking for – paradise for a day. Because of the hurricanes last year the Conquest cruise I was on only went to Merida, in the State of Yucatan, Mexico (it's very old and beautiful) and to Cozumel – where I went back to Paradise Beach for fun in the sun including parasailing – beach fun – and great food and drinks. You can lay on the beach on a chair or on a floatie under an umbrella or lie in a hammock while someone brings you drinks from fruity mixtures of fresh fruit to a bucket of beer or a margarita, pretty much whatever you need including just a soda or bottled cold water……….(my boyfriend likes cigars and he got to sit and smoke a couple of Cuban cigars something he has wanted to do for a long time….. – to each his own) – I don't smoke, but it was his little paradise on the beach! There is plenty of room for everyone….and for me……I just sat on the white sand under my blue umbrella and looked at the most beautiful turquoise water I've ever seen – and went high up into the air where you couldn't hear a sound just the flutter of the parachute holding me up so high I could see paradise….it doesn't matter where you decide to go…and I can only tell you about my experience….I believe anywhere on Cozumel is a paradise – but that's just me… I can't tell you about Jamaica – or the Grand Caymans – I've heard mixed reviews..but I've never been there so I'll save my opinion until I experience it for myself in September. Hope this helped a little.
