I have been on the Carnival Conquest and am going on Voyager of the Seas in December. I was wondering how Royal Caribbean compares in terms of food, activities, amenities, decor, service, staterooms, public rooms, stuff like that. (Sorry I’m asking for a lot!) Thank You!
Over all, I would say RC is better. I thought the dining room food on Carnival was much better, but the buffet (on Carnival) was disgusting. On RC, the dining room food and the buffet food were about the same. Good for a buffet, but disappointing for the dining room.
They both had lots of activities, depending on what you like, but RC has more stuff (rock climbing wall, putt putt, ice skating, etc), Depending on the ship.
The decor on RC was MUCH better, but I was on Carnival’s oldest ship, so…
I thought the service were equal.
The staterooms were about equal, but I thought the shower was smaller on RC.
The public room were much nicer on RC.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised on an RC cruise!

I have been on both. There is not a big difference. Not as much party atmosphere on RCL. Both very good.

probably just bigger ships with different decor and higher prices
I’ve Sailed Carnival twice. no intention of sailing RCL because 1. their 1AM curfew on all passengers under 18 (ok I agree with getting the little 12 yearolds to bed early but I’m 15. it’s odd for passengers not to have Freedom when they have a ship named Freedom of the seas) and 2. their prices, especially since I can go back to Carnival and get a past guest discount

After 30+ cruises, I feel Royal surpasses Carnival in every area. Carnival crew is a little friendlier, but Royal staff is also quite friendly. A lot depends upon the ship, not the cruise line.

Royal Caribbean is better, MUCH better.
The party atmosphere on Carnival ships is higher, but Royal Caribbean ships have night clubs and night life as well, just a more classy version.
If you stay in an inside cabin RC and Carnival are fairly comparable, but for larger rooms with a balcony I’d stick with RC.
RC has better decor as well and the ships feel more ‘high-end’ as well.
I’ve found service to be better on RC, but that isn’t to say Carnival was bad- RC just really knows how to do it!
Have a good time.. I went on a Voyager of the Seas cruise a while back and it was really enjoyable.

Being from Texas, I’ve been on both. Voyager is about the same size but seems easier to get around on. Royal Caribbean is a bit classier in my humble opinion and the service is a little better. It is hard to differentiate in the food area. RCCL caters to a bit older population and so the decor is nicer for that group. Activities are similar.
I would cruise again on both depending on itinerary and price at the time I want to go.
Have fun!
