You can not buy a cruise on the day of sailing but you can book 24 hours in advance. This will sometimes cause problems at embarkation because the ship will sometimes print the manifest the day before for the check in agents and the pier system computers may not get updates. It takes a few extra minutes to confirm that indeed you're on the manifest but then you're golden. As far as specials to "locals" to fill the ship, it doesn't happen that way in San Francisco.

No. Cruiselines need to submit passenger lists in advance for security reasons, so there's no last-minute sales at the dock. Also, there aren't that many ships sailing from Galveston anyway. Most sailings are full, no matter what the port is - if they have vacancies, the cruiselines will make rock-bottom offers to "locals" to fill up the ship.

not anymore, you may be able to get a last minute cruise but not at the port and not the same day, you still have to book it through the line or an agency about a week in advance, had a friend get one in a week at vacations to go, that is as close as you get

If you are able to take a trip at a moment's notice like that, it is a great way to save money. We have a friend who has traveled for under $500. Good luck!

Maybe, I don't know. But if you are talking like the day before a cruise, then the answer is no. They don't let anybody get any last minute tickets because of homeland security. I believe you may get one at least a week in advance, but not sooner.
