Should I navigate the Houston airport alone?

Posted on March 8th, 2010 by admin in IAH Bush Airport Houston

Ok, so I’m 14 years old. I’ve flown several times before, all on Continental Airlines. I was wondering if I would be okay finding my way through Houston Bush Intl. (IAH) alone.I have been to that airport about 15 times, so I kinda have an idea of how it’s laid out. Do you think I’ll be okay? I have a 2 hr layover.

I’ve bounced around airports as a minor and IAH is great – as long as you know which gate you need to be at, it is very easy to get around IAH. With a two hour layover, you will have to move fairly quickly, however, because Houston rarely has delays (no snow and almost never freezes). You will be okay though, especially since the security and staff at Houston is so friendly and helpful.

Good luck!

I didn’t know 14-year-olds were allowed to change from one terminal to another by themselves. Usually the airlines require a flight attendant to accompany a child from one gate to another.

You could always go to the airport’s website for a map of the airport, print it and have it with you. The different terminals and gates are always very well-marked, so if you’re smart and keep your wits about you and have plenty of time between flights, you should be OK, I suppose. I’d never let my 14-year-old do it, but….

You won’t have any problems. There are also airline & airport employees everywhere who will help you if asked.

You should be fine. You’ve been there enough and it’s not too difficult to navigate, everything is just a pretty good walk so give yourself plenty of time, especially if you have to change terminals. .As the others said, there will be plenty of airline employees around to help you.

Yeah if youve been there that many times you should be fine. Just dont wonder off and accidently miss your plane. If your in doubt about it though, I wouldn’t wonder to far away from my terminal though. You should be fine. Just be aware of your surrounding at all times and pay attention to where you are going so you will remember how to get back. The first minute you think you’re lost… ASK SOMEONE FOR HELP! Dont wait!

You’ll be fine just try to stick in or near the terminal you’ll be leaving from. If you have any doubts or questions just ask anyone that works there. I’m a lot older than you and get nervous when I’m traveling and I’ve never traveled alone so already you’re better than me!
