Love, Q features some of producer/composer/arranger/trumpeter and music legend Quincy Jones’ best known love songs. Spanning a nice swath of time from the ’70s through the ’90s, the collection focuses on Jones’ RB oriented material. Included here are such stellar tunes as the steamy Leon Ware/Bruce Fisher number “Body Heat”, Patti Austin’s lyrical “Love Me By Name” and the Tevin Campbell feature “Everything”. While this isn’t the definitive Jones compilation, or even as complete a picture as HipO’s previous Jones package Ultimate Collection, it is still nice to have all these “quiet storm”ready tracks in one place.

I've got no love for Q with this new disc. Starting from the very title. His last reassebled neo-greatest-hits compilation was subtley called "With Love from Q", now we've been shortened to just "Love Q"? Is this the man who orchestrated "We are the World"? Thriller? Has his originality finally been so sapped from him that the man can not even come up with a title?
I am even less impressed with the song selections. I love James Ingram, he is a remarkable singer but this look back into time deserves only one of his many hits. Just Once and Baby Come to Me are just tired! Let's move on please.
Quincy Jones has been trading off of The Secret Garden for years. Yes it is an amazing song, yes El Debarge's falsetto is wonderfully complementary to Barry White's (R.I.P) tremendous bass, but it's been done. When? Oh yeah on the last album, the one he gave to the world with his love. Not only does he use The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite) but the Prelude to The Garden and…And! Sax in the Garden! As a bonus he puts Velas on there as well. Ooooh Velas, another classic from his last album. Perhaps if "Q" really loved us, he'd have put together a real-live, brand-new, record or at the very least a better best-of. The man has written and produced countless songs, what is the problem? Do not waste your money on this schlock re-hash, just listen to any albums of his that you already have!
With Love,
Q
Pro : It's a rehash of already accepted good music
