Inside we will have an art exhibit and art sales. The purchase of these museum quality art and sculptures assists with the costs of exhibit development. We will also be holding a silent auction with valuable items donated by our contributors. After your tour of the Museum, take a leisurely stroll through the park, enjoy the gazebo and flower gardens, or walk out to the deck on the fishing pond for a little bird watching. About midway through the event, guests enjoyed a tasty dinner sponsored by La Brisa, although there was as much dancing and hand waving going on as there was dining. Southbound, a talented duo, thoroughly entertained the Divas with their old time rock and roll tunes. Yup, throw in a couple of margaritas, some great dance music and youll get a lot of ladies out on the dance floor. After all, girls just wanna have fun!

Special guests for the evening were the Houston Men on Fire, Houston Fire Fighters. These brave young men provided entertainment for an impromptu auction where Black Rose Steel led the way to raising $500 for the firefighters charities. With its stretches of white sand, beautiful people and great outdoor water sports, this Orange County beach community makes a great California vacation. Whether you’re into sunbathing or shopping, cycling or surfing — this town has it, and more.

I grew up about 7 miles from Newport Beach, so I guess you could say this was my high school hangout. Back then, I spent most of my time at 32nd street and Balboa Fun Zone, but today, let’s explore the city.

Veronica Hill of CaliforniaTravelExpert.com packs her beach bags and hits the boardwalk in search of good food and fun in Newport Beach.

For a vacation just steps from the sand, check into Newport Beach hotels like Doryman’s Inn, Newport Beachwalk Hotel or Balboa Inn, where you can almost taste the saltwater. From here, you can walk to most Newport Beach attractions and restaurants, which makes them handy for tourists.

Many Newport Beach homes are also available as vacation rentals, and some have ocean views! One of the most popular companies for Newport Beach rentals is Burr White, located on Newport Boulevard.

Newport Beach travel is great any time of the year, but the best time to visit is during the summer. You can stroll along the boardwalk, play a game of volleyball on the beach, or body surf The Wedge, a world-famous surfing spot at the end of Balboa Peninsula.

For kinder, gentler water, check out Newport Dunes, where you can go paddle surfing or rent a pedal boat. This is a great place to stay if you have an RV, and cottages are also available overnight.

Nearby, Fashion Island is a great place to go shopping or dining.

On the weekends, you can watch fisherman bring in the catch of the day at Dory Fleet Market along Newport Pier. It’s been here since 1891!

The boats usually arrive between 7 and 9 a.m., when the buying frenzy begins. Seafood lovers line up early to get their hands on fresh fish like sea trout, urchin and live stone crab.

Though seafood is hot, it’s not the only kind of cuisine in town. Newport Beach restaurants range from the elegant 21 Oceanfront, known for its great filet mignon, to the casual Charlie’s Chili, which is famous for its all-day breakfasts and Mexican food.

The historic Crab Cooker is known for its amazing cracked crab served with cheesy potatoes and fisherman’s bread. They’re also famous for their Manhattan clam chowder, passed down through generations. Get here early, as this has been a local’s favorite since 1951.

The 15th Annual Keels & Wheels Concours dElegance presents the largest collection of classic cars and wooden boats in the United States. The main waterway of Clear Creek provides recreational opportunities such as fishing, boating, birding, and wildlife observation. In the lower reaches of the Creek, the estuarine habitats serve as nurseries for species such as menhaden, shrimp, and blue crab. Throughout the watershed, migratory birds and Gulf Coast waterfowl find fertile feeding grounds. Healthy estuaries support the success of commercial and recreational fishing within Galveston Bay, one of our nations most productive bays for shrimp and oyster.

Every weekend in January and February Rex Ward with the help of his voluntary board of directors organize grassroots volunteers and begin cleaning the creek from Hwy 2351 to Galveston Bay. The rodeo was in full swing and 500 bay area party people headed to the show on 10 buses hosted by the NASA, Clear Creek, Friendswood Rodeo Committee. The fun started out at Hooters where wings and beer were flowing like water. Around 5:30 people were loaded on the buses and we headed to Reliant Center to see Brad Paisley, in concert. Between the great music, the rodeo action and the fun happening in the Chute Club everyone had a great time.

Butler Longhorn Museum is now one step closer to the official opening scheduled for May 22. And in support of the museum, talented artists, from the bay area, donated works to be sold to museum visitors, supporting the educational exhibit at the museum. Pieces ranged from paintings to metal sculptures, from seascapes to ranch lands, Iconography, Native American, Graffiti Writer and Western Classical art all beautifully done. Once again, this years Classic Car festival will be held staged in the parking lot of the Kemah Visitors Center located at the corner of 6th & Bradford Streets.

More than 100 classic and new cars will be on display and sitting along-side of these beautiful vehicles will be a display of wonderful art work and handmade crafts , sculptors, woodwork, photography, pottery and may more talented local artists.

Listen in to Talk of the Bay as Kim Woodard, President of the North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce, tells us about this event on Saturday, Oct 3 and also about the cruising caravan event happening on Friday, Oct. 2.

Friday, October 2 the Cruise begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Kemah Wal-Mart parking lot on SH 146. The Cruise departs at 7:30 p.m. and ends at Hugh & Jeffs Car Wash on SH 646 for an evening of fun & entertainment.
