February 20 Clear Creek Clean Up Clear Lake Area
The main waterway of Clear Creek provides recreational opportunities such as fishing, boating, birding, and wildlife observation. In the lower reaches of the Creek, the estuarine habitats serve as nurseries for species such as menhaden, shrimp, and blue crab. Throughout the watershed, migratory birds and Gulf Coast waterfowl find fertile feeding grounds. Healthy estuaries support the success of commercial and recreational fishing within Galveston Bay, one of our nations most productive bays for shrimp and oyster.
Listen in to Talk of the Bay as Rex Ward, the Keeper of the Creek, and Lloyd Thornton tell us what the status is of Clear Creek for this years cleanup.
Every weekend in January and February Rex Ward with the help of his voluntary board of directors organize grassroots volunteers and begin cleaning the creek from Hwy 2351 to Galveston Bay. March 11 Rodeo Bus Trip Clear Lake
March 11 Rodeo Bus Trip Clear Lake
The rodeo was in full swing and 500 bay area party people headed to the show on 10 buses hosted by the NASA, Clear Creek, Friendswood Rodeo Committee. The fun started out at Hooters where wings and beer were flowing like water. Around 5:30 people were loaded on the buses and we headed to Reliant Center to see Brad Paisley, in concert. Between the great music, the rodeo action and the fun happening in the Chute Club everyone had a great time.

The Kemah Boardwalk’s free open-air concerts make it a place worth visiting every Thursday for music lovers and an overall outstanding Amusement venue. Great Restaurants like Landry’s Seafood House and Saltgrass Steakhouse, Thrill Rides like the all-wood Boardwalk Bullet and the Boardwalk Beast Boatride are all now an institution in the Houston Scene.

Hurricane IKe Huge Apartment Fire in Galveston, Texas ENG
This is the ENG package sent out to media outlets of the an apartment complex fire the day after Hurricane Ike hit. Quite a few units of the complex burned out as firefighters were unable to combat the blaze due to water being turned off and high winds, as well as blocked streets. This was picked up by CBS and AP. Hurricane winds were sustained around 40mph with higher gusts at this time.
