I think it will come in the form of a tropical depression and not a full blown hurricane but i would get prepared to evacuate if the mayor thinks it can be dangerous , just listen to the local radio station or news channels.

Right now they have no real idea of where it's going to go once it gets into the gulf. Since your closer to the water, if it comes this way, head to higher ground with everything important. I'd watch the weather channel and use the internet for your information rather than the local weatherman who go crazy when we have a windy day. You information in these places will be more accurate and you won't have all the "hype" with it.

Right now it looks like it's going to hit the Louisiana coast. If it does we'll be on what is called the clean side of the storm or the drier side. If you are very worried, take an impromptu, mini vacation to San Antonio for a few days, but leave now. By the time they say, oops it's heading towards us, then it's too late to evacuate easily. Don't worry.
